Hello There – A Little Mistake Made!

Hello All,

How are you? I pray all is well with you!

This afternoon an Evite was inadvertently sent from this address.  I have NO idea how this happened ( I suspect my email was hacked), but wanted to ask you to please disregard that message. In addition to my love for writing and blogging I am very involved in my son’s school. I’m actually Social Coordinator for his class! A busy but fun job!

Anyway, didn’t want to confuse you with the Evite. Please disregard.

Since I’m here, how’ve you been? What victories have you experienced lately? Are you still living your life Divinely Defined?

Remember that in all things God is working them together for your good!

God Bless You!

Don’t Make a Rash Decision in a Temporary Situation

Don’t Make a Rash Decision in a Temporary Situation

Are you experiencing a difficult set of circumstances in your life right now? Have you grown tired of praying, trusting, and waiting for God to intervene? Are you so desperate for relief that you are tempted to bring this season to a rapid end by devising your own plan of escape? If this is you, my response is: “Don’t make a rash decision in a temporary situation, you just might miss your blessing!

I am in such a season right now, and have been for longer than I would care to admit. Although I don’t like it and so look forward to change, I am convinced beyond all convincing that God knows exactly where I am. I know that He is with me, and not only is He working on me, He’s also working in my situation. Now grant it early on this was not my mindset, however as I have succumbed (and this is the operative word) to my season of testing by making necessary changes in my attitude, and resolving to trust His word concerning myself, I have experienced (first hand) a marvelous change in my life. For starters I now know what it means to have peace that surpasses all understanding. Secondly, I can see how these fiery trials are burning away my old, fleshly ways of thinking and responding to unpleasant situations and people, and thirdly, I have grown to love and appreciate the Lordship of Jesus Christ over my life in ways unimaginable!

Thank God for maturity, because early on this was not my attitude. At the beginning of this season I frequently experienced feelings of frustration, disappointment, even impatience. I did everything from devising my own escape routes that would “rescue” me from my situation, to being tempted to throw up the peace sign and be done with the whole thing. My rationale was, “why should I remain in a place that is uncomfortable?” It just didn’t compute for me.

Fortunately nothing I tried worked. I thank God for that, now, because although I am still in this season I can see a greater good that is resulting from my experience. My rash decision-making in a situation I know is not my life sentence would have caused me to miss this blessing, and others that are one the way. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a glutton for punishment by any stretch of the imagination, but over time God has allowed me to see the beauty that is being produced by the fiery trials of life, and it looks pretty good if I must say so myself!

Are you in the midst of a season, circumstance, or situation that you are close to devising your own escape route that would “free” you from this time of refining? If this is your story, know that while it doesn’t feel comfortable, God is working a far greater good than a reprieve from your present situation could offer you. His Word tell us:

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything”. James 1: 2-4

As you continue to endure your season of trial, I encourage you to stay in place and resist the urge to make a rash decision in a temporary situation. God sees you and knows just where you are and believe it or not, He is closer to you than you might think! I pray that He would open your eyes so that you may see glimpses of the greater good that is being perfected in you. May it encourage you to stay the course and continue pressing. Like me, your deliverance is on the way, but until it comes resolve to allow Him to continue perfecting that which concerns you!

God Bless You,

Dana

God is doing some wonderful and NEW things in all of our lives and I am so excited about it!  I promise I won’t flood your inbox, but this month you will be receiving a few more messages from me than normal.

Thank you for your continued support!

In Pursuit of Passion – The One World Doll Story

Hello All!

How are you? I pray all is well and that you are in active pursuit of making your God-given dreams a reality!

Question: Do you have a dream/vision/passion for something that burns within you? Have you been longing and praying for the right opportunity that will help bring it to fruition?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, allow me to introduce you to one woman whose story will inspire and encourage you:

Stacey McBride-Irby

Stacey McBride-Irby

Meet Stacey McBride-Irby, Sr. VP of Product Development for the One World Doll Project™. Before launching One World Dolls, Stacey was a Project Designer for Mattel™ in El Segundo, CA. For 15 years Stacey lived her dream. She grew up playing with Barbie™ dolls and now she was getting paid to design them. While at Mattel Stacey’s creativity and passion earned her a host of accolades and awards for her design work. She is accredited with creating the So In Style™ line of African-American Barbie dolls; the sorority Barbie, celebrating the Centennial year of Alpha Kappa Alpha; a one-of-a-kind take on the 1980’s Black Barbie, as well as developing several of the 2010 Barbie career dolls, including Pet Vet Barbie, Rock Star Barbie and Bride Barbie.

Life was seemingly good, but Stacey was unfulfilled. Though she found joy in creating Barbie dolls that girls around the world have come to know and love, the question as to who was inspiring the little girls of color that they too are beautiful, could do anything, and had a doll that represented all of this weighed heavily on her heart. Soon, what began as a question evolved into a passionate vision that could not be quenched. Stacey’s vision for the future of dolls of color was far greater than anything she’d ever done before, and it quickly became apparent that if she wanted to see her vision come to fruition, she would have to make a change.

After much thought and prayer Stacey left Mattel, partnered with a God-given team of visionaries, and shortly thereafter the One World Doll Project was born.

Check out our recent interview:

DanaGood Morning, Stacey, thank you for taking the time to speak with me. So, jumping right into the interview, can you tell me who is Stacey McBride-Irby?

StaceyWoman of God, born and raised in a Christian home, married for 14 years, I have a 10 and 12-year-old, both who encouraged me to leave Mattel.

DanaTell me a little bit about the One World Doll Project and how it was born?

Stacey: The dolls are multicultural dolls that strictly cater to minorities. This vision was born after I created the So In Style (SIS) line at Mattel. This is a line of dolls that have different skin tones and represent us. I found my purpose through this project. I received accolades at work, I was featured on BET’s My Black is Beautiful, JET magazine, I got speaking opportunities, and on one occasion I was invited to Hampton university on UNCF’s Empower Me Tour. It was around this time that I realized my purpose was to encourage and inspire young girls, offering them dolls that represented them, while being a mentor.  I couldn’t move forward with just being a doll designer. I knew my vision was bigger than Mattel. I wanted to mentor and create cultural dolls, but had no idea of how to bring it to pass.

While I was at Hampton I met Trent Daniel, who is now one of the partners for the One World Doll Project. We had conversations, talked about my vision, and ultimately (months later) the project was birthed!

DanaCan you talk about the timing of your dream? Have things been a constant flow of productivity for you?

StaceyI left Mattel on a Friday and went to work that Sunday. Everything moved fast, but by the end of 2011 there was a halt—money stopped (flowing into the company). I didn’t know what to do. The year 2012 was dry as well. Things are just now picking up momentum again. It was hard on everyone, but Trent has kept us all together. My faith was challenged because I expected everything to flow without interruption. I felt feelings of embarrassment because I told people the dolls would be out by a certain time and they weren’t. The public was waiting for them, but now I understand I needed to have a story. I needed a testimony.

DanaPlease talk about resources as they pertain to your dream. Where did they come from?

StaceyIt has not been easy and hasn’t been what I thought it would be. I took from my retirement to live off of. I leaned on my parents. God is providing. I’m not getting a constant paycheck, but we haven’t missed a beat.

In order to create the dolls I networked. I kept in touch with key people who could help me. I called on all of my old contacts from Mattel who have now started their own companies.

DanaWhere does your support come from?

StaceyMy support comes from my parents, husband and children, sister, my brother, Pastor G and my One World Doll team.

DanaWhat keeps you inspired?

StaceyI know this is my purpose, and I want to leave a legacy for my husband and children. I want to create a Stacey brand, which is a brand that girls can follow behind.

DanaHow has your life been (re) prioritized?

StaceyI have to be more disciplined about my time and home. This time has also helped me to focus more on family and my children. I know my children need me at home, so I make myself available to them when they come home from school. A typical day for me might be doing a speaking engagement, conference calls, responding to emails from our doll plant, researching and designing our next doll, then focusing my attention on what needs to be done at home. My time is flexible.

DanaWhat is your vision for the One World Doll Project?

StaceyMy vision is to be a brand of dolls that empower girls to see themselves within a doll. It’s a fashion doll much like the American Girl doll. I want flagship stores, and want to create a movement behind the dolls, inspiring girls to create a movement. I see a cartoon, accessories, party goods, sheets—Huge! Universal appeal!

I pray Stacey’s story encouraged you to trust God with the dream/vision/passion He has given you. Trust that He will most certainly give you everything you need to experience success. Do your part by continuing to nurture what He has placed inside of you so that when the doors of opportunity open, like Stacey, you are well able to walk through them.

We wish Stacey McBride-Irby and the One World Doll Project much success!

Discovering Your Purpose

Discovering Your Purpose

Can you fill in the blank?  “I was placed on this earth to _____________________________________________________________.”

Congratulations if you were able to list your God-given purpose, and even bigger congratulations if you are actively doing what you listed!

Perhaps you were unable to list anything above. If this is true, don’t worry! As long as there is breath in your body you still have the opportunity to seek and understand the unique purpose God attached to you when He formed you!

Purpose is revealed in many different ways and in different timing. Some people receive an answer the moment they ask the question, and others come to know and understand their purpose over time. Though it would be nice, there is no cookie cutter method to follow; however, below are several steps that might prove helpful in assisting you or those you love as you embark on this wonderful journey.

Before You Begin:

Make sure you are free from the following three things:

  1. Anxiety/Stress: These sabotage your ability to hear clearly.
  2. Concern for Money: This will certainly act as a roadblock or will thwart your ability to clearly receive an answer if this is your focus.
  3. Concern About the Opinion of Others: This has the power to influence what you will or will not do. You will find yourself aiming to please others and not remaining true to yourself and God.

Ready to Receive:

Set some time aside and do the following:

  1. Ask God: Check out Jeremiah 33:3
  2. Think about what you get pleasure in doing, naturally. Does it serve others?
  3. Think about what draws you from within. Are your God-given gifts/talents being utilized?
  4. Repeat these steps as often as needed

During this time keep your eyes, ears, and heart open as you wait for clarity. Realize you are probably closer to it than you might think.

Lastly, remember while your purpose will remain the same, the way in which you go about fulfilling it may evolve. If you are just starting out, take it one small step at a time—just remain faithful!

Blessing,

 Dana

Your Birth is Part of A Strategic Plan!

Your Birth is Part of A Strategic Plan

Why do you think God chose you to be born during this period of time? What, in your opinion, is special about you? What did God invest in you that He knew He would later bring out of you that would serve this world and the people that surround you?

You and I were created by God and sent here to be a part of His amazing plan to bless this world and bring Him glory. Just as our faces differ, so do our purposes for being here. What were you created to do at this particular time? Have you abandoned yourself to it and are you pursuing it with passion and fervor? If your answer is YES, congratulations, and keep up the great work! If you answered NO, I urge you to explore what has kept you from moving forward. If you don’t yet know what “it” is, I encourage you to spend some time in the presence of the Lord and ask, “What was I born to do?” and get ready for the response.

God was intentional when He created you. Your presence in this world is not only part of His strategic plan, but your presence here has the potential to be a great power move by Him in His quest to further His kingdom! Will you partner with Him by taking steps of faith and moving out on the things he has placed within your heart? It begins with you!

Embrace Your Greatness

Hello!

Got a question for you: From time to time do you ever get a glimpse of yourself doing things that have been long-time dreams of yours? Are you sometimes able to visualize the unimaginable and it seems very real to you? Some call this being a “Dreamer,” others may call it not being in touch with reality. I call it a divine download of the possibilities that lie within.

We are the offspring of a God that is GREAT, and that greatness lives within us.

Below is a poem that has inspired me throughout the years and continues to inspire me today. I hope it does the same for you!

Our Deepest Fear

By Marianne Williamson

“
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
 that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves
who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small
does not serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine,
as children do.
We were born to make manifest
the glory of God that is within us.

It’s not just in some of us;
It’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we’re liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.”

Today, and everyday of your life, embrace your greatness and passionately pursue the dreams that God has placed within your heart!

Hello! (Updated)

Hello There,

I hope all is well with each and every one of you! It’s been a long time since I last blogged, so let me say: Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you! I pray you are in the midst of doing your part in making this your best year yet!

Although I’ve been silent on the blogging front for a while, I’ve been keeping busy with my book, Divinely Defined, which is still alive and doing well. New doors are opening that are giving me the opportunity to share the message to a broader audience. Praise God for that!

Secondly, I’ve created a program for Aspiring Authors called, Birthing Your Dreams. It is an intense writing program designed for anyone who is SERIOUS about getting the message they have in their heart onto paper-otherwise known as writing a book. The program is made up of three components: encouragement, accountability, and writing tips– all designed to help Aspiring Authors birth their book dream! The pilot program kicks off tonight, February 4th and runs for three months!

What about you? What have you been up to lately? Are you living your life in light of the fact that you KNOW you are Divinely Defined?

You’ll be hearing from me more often. When you do, you’ll continue to read messages that affirm the fact that you are Divinely Defined, as well as messages for A Woman’s Worth. In addition to that, you’ll also read messages that are designed to encourage, push, and challenge you to continue reaching toward achieving the impossible, the incredible, and the unimaginable, because as we all know with Christ ALL things are possible to Him who believes!

Stay in the Blessed Place!
